At a Maroubra Rotary meeting in the Glasshouse Restaurant, The Juniors on Monday 15th July 2019, Bruce Macarthur’s efforts towards running Rotary Mental Health First Aid courses at Maroubra Junction were recognised by the presentation of a certificate from the Rotary Clubs of Randwick and Maroubra.
These Rotary MHFA courses commenced under Bruce’s leadership in May 2013 and continued until May 2019. During that period Bruce worked tirelessly to make sure the courses had: a venue; a facilitator; sufficient numbers of attendees; tea, coffee and biscuits, and sat through just about every course over the two days required for their presentation.
23 courses were presented over the 6 years, with 459 bookings made and 535 tickets sold for a total revenue of $37,290, which went towards recouping the facilitators’ fees.
Bruce’s obedience to the commandment “Love your neighbour as yourself” has been demonstrated by his running of these Rotary MHFA courses, which has helped others to do likewise.
